Smoothing Windows to Mac transition
Part II (Home & End keys)

Being a Windows user, one of the most annoying things you notice once you start using a Mac is that the Home/End keys don't move the cursor to the beginning/end of the line as you are used to. Also the cursors don't work as expected: Ctrl+left/right-cursor to move the cursor one word left/right and with Shift to select that word (etc).

The good news is that there is an easy "fix".
Just place a configuration file on the right folder, and those key combinations can be mapped to Windows equivalents. Here's how:
  1. With Finder, go to folder ~/Library
  2. Create the folder KeyBindings, if it doesn't exist already.
  3. Download this file if you didn't swap the Ctrl & Alt keys, or this file if you did (refer to this post)
  4. Unzip the file DefaultKeyBinding.dict, and place it in the folder ~/Library/KeyBinding you just created (you can open it with Text Editor and take a look!)
  5. Reboot, open the Text Editor and try the new keys on some text (Home/End, etc).
Now you have no excuse for bad writing...

Hello, great job you have done here :)
Thanks for you nice tips.

Unfortunately the home/end trick is not system wide, and only works with TextEditor.
